Remediation of soil contaminated with transformer oil at Mandariituba Power Substation, Brazil

The Mandarituba power substation is owned utility company by Copel, The substation recorded many incidents of theft and vandalism on its property resulting in damage to transformers and spillage of transformer oil. As a result transformer oil was spilled over an area of around 5000 sq ft. The TPH values measured were in excess of 20,000 ppm and the oil had seeped below the surface. The company decided to use the AgroRemed BR CTBA a new product tailoredmade by us for Brazil for onsite remediation. The contaminated area was excavated and the soil was treated in separate bio-piles. Four weeks after application, analysis of samples showed reduction of TPH values to local regulation levels.
